TRYON—On Monday, Jeff Allison, the longtime general manager of the Tryon Daily Bulletin, was officially announced as the publisher of Tryon Newsmedia, LLC. The move comes after over 20 years of working for the local newspaper.
“It truly is an honor to be named publisher,” Allison said earlier this week. “I’m very proud to be such a part of this community and part of the history of Tryon Newsmedia, even more so than before.”
Allison began working at the newspaper in 2002 as a production assistant before becoming the lead pressman. He became the production supervisor in 2013 and, in 2021, manager of the entire operation while also serving as editor.
“Jeff brings a special talent to this new role, one that has been obvious to those of us fortunate to work with him for a long time,” said Tim Prince, President and CEO of Carpenter Media Group, the parent company of Tryon Newsmedia. “Jeff marries a remarkably sharp mind with tenacity and passion for high-quality results. As a lifelong resident of Polk County and a longtime member of the Tryon Daily Bulletin team, he could not be better prepared for this responsibility. I look forward to the excellent journalism and marketing services Jeff and his team will deliver in the years ahead.”
“It is my pleasure to congratulate Jeff on this long-overdue recognition of the work he has been doing,” said John Carr, Regional Vice President of Carpenter Media Group. “Jeff has the type of leadership one develops when they come up through the operation as he has over many years, learning the ins and outs of all departments through being hands on. This is the type of management and leadership that suits community news organizations especially well and helps make the Bulletin an integral part of the community it serves.”
Jeff said that despite his new title, his focus on day-to-day operations will remain the same.
“I think most people who know me would say that I know how to get things done,” he says. “I’m committed to helping in any way I can, whether working in the pressroom, helping a client with their marketing campaign, working a story, taking photos, or troubleshooting any issues. I take pride in the work that we do here.”
In addition to publishing the Bulletin, Tryon Newsmedia publishes Life in Our Foothills, the Visitor’s Bulletin, the annual Almanac, and several other yearly publications. It publishes content daily on the Bulletin’s website and is a full-fledged marketing company offering first-class print and digital solutions for the local business community.
