SALUDA—The Saluda Pantry has recently been awarded a significant grant from the Carolina Foothills Foundation. The grant will be used to support the pantry’s unique and thriving Farm to Neighbor Program. The funding will both enable it to sustain the relationships established with local farmers and expand healthy, fresh produce offerings to shoppers throughout the year.
The coordinator of the Farm to Neighbor program, Susan Casey, expressed her gratitude and excitement about the opportunities this grant provides.
“We’re so grateful for the generous support of the Carolina Foothills Foundation,” says Casey. “This grant allows us to continue funding the Farm to Neighbor program, which supports local farmers and increases opportunities for small farm retention in our area. Fresh, local food provides nutritious and flavorful products for our neighbors experiencing food insecurity.”
The Carolina Foothills Foundation awarded $3.5 million to 38 local nonprofits in Polk and Rutherford Counties. The projects they support target elder care, youth development and wellness.
