COLUMBUS—Polk County’s N.C. Co-Op Extension is excited to invite all residents to its upcoming open house event at it facility, located at 79 Carmel Lane. The open house will take place on August 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. to explore the exciting programs and facilities offered by the Co-Op Extension.
During the event, visitors will have the opportunity to tour the new 4-H Barn, 4-H Activity Room, and the newly renovated kitchen. The 4-H barn plays a crucial role in housing the goats for the 4-H goat program, ensuring their safety from potential bear raids. The spacious 4-H Activity Room has been designed to facilitate the 4-H sewing program. It is now equipped with sewing machines and provides an ideal space for meetings and activities. The new kitchen promises a delightful cooking experience for future cooking programs.
The Co-Op’s team of agents will be on hand to answer questions and provide valuable insights into their specialized areas, including 4-H Youth Development, Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Family and Consumer Sciences.
The local Co-Op Extension is an integral part of a national cooperative extension system, which has been officially supporting agricultural research and education for farmers and rural communities since 1914. In North Carolina, the extension is based out of NC State and N.C. A&T State universities, where unique programs extend research-based knowledge to families, businesses, and communities.
This open house is an excellent opportunity for all interested residents to learn and engage with the valuable resources and programs offered by the Polk County NC Co-Op Extension.
Refreshments will be provided. For more information visit polk.ces.ncsu.edu.
