LANDRUM—Paint Horse Flower Farm of Green Creek is adding bright colors and delightful scents to the Landrum Farmers Market. Cheryl Judge-Decker, one of the market’s popular regular vendors, owns and operates the farm.
At Paint Horse Flower Farm’s table, visitors can find various fresh-cut flowers, bouquets, and herbs. The farm’s growing methods incorporate greenhouses and raised beds, ensuring a sustainable and diverse selection.
The flowers available for purchase include zinnias, dahlias, lisianthus and anemones. Additionally, Cheryl occasionally offers sourdough bread baked by her husband, which is highly sought after and tends to sell out quickly.
“I always enjoyed growing things as a hobby,” says Judge-Decker. “And I soon found there was a demand for fresh-cut flowers selling them to local florists, such as Four Winds in Tryon.”
Cheryl’s journey as an entrepreneur began three years ago when she moved to the area from Upstate New York and established her business on her property. With the support of a grant, her husband, and her son, she has expanded her farm, adding a 16×40 greenhouse and a cold storage unit, showcasing the family’s dedication to the endeavor. Her son has also assisted in reaching new customers by helping her connect with local florists.
On Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to noon, locals and visitors can enjoy the beauty of Paint Horse Flower Farm at the Landrum Farmers Market.
Cheryl shared, “This is a great market with lots of traffic and full of great vendors, who I’ve enjoyed meeting and getting to know.”
Cheryl’s unique touch is evident in every arrangement she creates. She prioritizes seasonal flowers, unique colors, and textures and takes pride in offering free-flowing arrangements with the highest-quality flowers that leave a lasting impression.
