TRYON—A local family in Tryon loves the town’s mascot, “Morris,” so much that they’ve built quite a few decorations around their home in his honor.

Ed and Tina Plants say it all started with a small Morris to place on a metal display of the Carolinas since the family’s property covers both states.

“We really love our Morris,” the couple says. “And we love our little town, too.”

Getting inspiration from Tryon’s address plaques, the family also built a flower box adorned by a couple of Morris figures and a walkway insert with their initials and yet another Morris.

Then, the big project began after they had taken inspiration from the Morris displayed at Harmon Field. This inspiration led to an awesome version of our beloved Morris.

Standing just shy of 10′ tall and almost 11′ wide, the Plants’ version of Morris uses the garage window as his body for its form, and the rest was made from plywood scaled to fit and painted to match the town mascot.
