Why would a religious organization in the county spend money on a project to provide help with food for needy people “county-wide” when an organization, Outreach, already exists to do exactly that function?

And why would the local paper publish this effort on its front page when it should know that many years ago, this same paper was touting the efforts of Elouise Thwing and her organization in getting Thermal Belt Outreach, now Outreach, opened, thus relieving the many religious organizations in the county of that function.

It is always desirable to avoid duplication of effort.

In addition, if there were only one organization, “Manna” would then only have to deliver Polk County’s “allotted food” to one location instead of dividing it.

Editor’s Note: We here at the Bulletin are fully aware of Outreach’s valiant efforts and history, but we also feel Share Thy Bread’s food pantry’s efforts are admirable, and the groundbreaking of its new facility is noteworthy.
