A group of Tryonites recently gathered at the 2024 Scottish Highland Games at Grandfather Mountain and formed Clan McTryon. They proudly carried their banner and marched in the official Campers’ Parade on the opening day of the Games on July 11.

The McTryon Clan was represented by Bill and Becky McCall, Mark and Carol McCall, Kevin McCall, Richard and Holly McKee, Paul McMinn, and Susan McNabb, all of Tryon. These members have been attending the Games and donning their kilts for decades and plan to continue their tradition at next year’s Games as well. All Tryonites who camp at the Games are welcome and encouraged to march with the clan in the Camper’s Parade.

The Grandfather Mountain Highland Games is the largest Scottish gathering and games event in the world and runs the second weekend in July each year at MacRae Meadows at the base of Grandfather Mountain. One hundred and eight clans and organizations were represented at this year’s Games.
