TRYON—Drew Banzhoff, the departing music director and organist for Tryon Presbyterian Church, will present a farewell concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 28. The public is invited to the free event.

Banzhoff, a 2023 graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, will begin studies for a Master’s degree in composition at The Juilliard School in New York this fall.

For the July 28 concert, Banzhoff plans to perform at least two world premieres of pieces he composed. A multi-instrumentalist, he does not expect to limit the performance to the organ. He also may include additional musicians.

“There may definitely be some surprises in the program,” Banzhoff says – which would not surprise the TPC congregation, which has been frequently delighted by their creative and talented music director.

He also will present some “organ favorites” by request. “I am sure Bach and others will make an appearance,” he said.

The church is located at 430 Harmon Field Road.
