TRYON—Holy Cross Episcopal Church recently announced that it is featuring the art of Matt Laughridge. The church’s gallery, located upstairs in the hallway, features portraits, landscapes, wildlife, and equestrian themes.

Laughridge grew up in North Carolina, trained in Italy, and now resides in his hometown of Tryon. After graduating from Wake Forest University in 2009 with a double major of Economics and Communication, he began a career in banking and later transitioned into construction and petroleum.

Laughridge grew up loving art and was heavily influenced by his elementary art teacher, Clara Rogers, at an early age. He decided to explore his love of art by studying in Florence, Italy. During his time at the atelier, he studied the drawing and painting techniques used by the Old Masters.
