Event held during Fourth Friday; two new businesses hold ribbon-cutting
TRYON—The inaugural Global Food Fest, organized by the Tryon Downtown Development Association, proved to be a resounding success on Friday evening as locals and visitors flocked to Trade St. to partake in a diverse array of international cuisines. The festival took place during the town’s Fourth Friday event.
The event featured an eclectic mix of dishes and desserts from various local businesses. Jay & Co., located on N. Trade St., delighted attendees with African Bobotie and Spanish Sopapilla Cheesecake, while Wild Petunias served tantalizing Indian Butter Chicken. Huckleberry’s offered a taste of the Mediterranean with their Zucchini Noodle Salad, and Chef Sharone’s Indian Samosas were also a hit. Meanwhile, Katie D’s Seafood Shack dished out over 250 cups of their popular Indian Coconut Shrimp Curry.
Other participating businesses added to the culinary delight, with offerings ranging from Saudi Arabian Chicken Bokharaat served by Tryon Foothills Realty to Mongolian Meatballs with Ramen from Tryon Coffeehouse. The Trade Street Diner delighted taste buds with their savory empanadas, and Southern Agenda, one of the newest businesses on Trade St., stood out with their Cajun Roadkill Gumbo filled with shrimp.
Also, on Friday evening, the town officially welcomed Valhalla Cakes and the neighboring Mirrorball Gallery with a joint ribbon-cutting on Pacolet Street.
The 2024 Global Food Fest was truly a celebration of the town’s diverse culinary landscape, bringing the community together for an evening of international flavors and camaraderie.
