LANDRUM —Landrum’s Music at the Market series is celebrating summer with an exciting lineup, including the return of the legendary Southern Rock band Silver Travis Band. The group is set to perform at the Joe Cunningham Market Pavilion, located at 221 West Rutherford Street, on Saturday, July 13, at 7 pm.
The Silver Travis Band, formed in 1980, has a storied history performing alongside iconic Southern Rock acts, including 38 Special, Marshall Tucker Band, and Confederate Railroad. Consisting of members Randall Calvert, Mike Satterfield, Joey Parrish, Carey Upton, Don Taylor, and the newest member, Woody Cowan, the band commands a solid local following in Spartanburg and Polk counties. Their music has also garnered international recognition, with successful tours across states like Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Ohio during the Summer. Their last album even found an audience in France.
Bass player Joey Parrish expressed his excitement for the upcoming performances, remarking, “We’d played the Music at the Tracks series when it was at the train depot. We’re thrilled to be playing the new venue at Music at the Market and Columbus’ 4th of July celebrations. We’re excited to come back to Landrum and share our music with everyone.””
Known for their eclectic mix of originals and Southern Rock classics, Silver Travis promises to pay tribute to the Marshall Tucker Band at the 4th of July celebration.
“Randall and Woody have an amazing guitar sound that blends amazingly when they are playing together, and we’re also lucky to include saxophone player Don Taylor, who played with Lynyrd Skynyrd on their first tour after the plane crash, along with bands like Jefferson Airplane and the James Gang,” Parrish adds.
The Music at the Market series will continue throughout 2024, with upcoming Summer shows featuring Retro 78 on July 27, Back 9 Band on August 10, and Rock ‘N Roll Reunion on August 24th, promising a diverse array of musical experiences for patrons to enjoy.
