City adopts annual budget on Tuesday
LANDRUM—On Tuesday, June 25, the City of Landrum adopted its 2024–2025 budget.
One highlight of the budget is that it significantly increases the pay for Landrum Police Department personnel, including adding three new police officers, with no increase in the city’s mill levy.
“After receiving the most current revenue projections from the Municipal Association of South Carolina distribution and the most current update on our revenues from Landrum Business Licenses, we feel confident that a millage rate increase will not be necessary for this next fiscal year,” said Landrum Mayor Bob Briggs.
According to a press release, for several years, the City of Landrum has predicted that the new growth in residential development and new businesses would bring in additional revenues and increase its tax base, and it appears this has now become a reality.
“Providing the best public safety for our community can be achieved without raising taxes this coming year,” the release states.
