COLUMBUS—Local author Mimi Prunella Hernandez will present an exploration of herbal wonders in “A Journey through the National Geographic Herbal.” The presentation will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25, at the Columbus Library.

Hernandez is an herbalist and author of the National Geographic Herbal. She will introduce nine herbs from her book, each revealing a unique facet of herbal wisdom. 

For over a decade, she served as the executive director of the American Herbalists Guild, where she has worked tirelessly to ensure that herbalists have a strong professional community to support their work. In 2023, Hernandez received a Botanical Excellence Award from the American Botanical Council, a prestigious honor that recognizes her as a Mark Blumenthal Herbal Community Builder. 

With her husband Terry, Hernandez stewards The PonderLand Native Plant Sanctuary in Mill Spring and inspires others to consider establishing plant sanctuaries in their communities.
