POLK COUNTY—We all know how important it is to continue learning through the summer while school is out. To participate in fun educational offerings this summer, community members can sign up for the 2024 Summer Learning Program with Polk County Public Libraries starting June 10 at Columbus Library or Saluda Library.

Kids and teens can pick up a packet at the library that contains two brag tags to start your collection, learning goal bookmarks, and a list of learning goal ideas. Each week, participants will set and achieve two learning goals for a new brag tag, an entry into a weekly prize drawing and an entry into grand prize drawings. The learning incentive program runs for eight weeks until August 2.

Kids’ events are held on Wednesdays at 2 p.m. and are held at Columbus Library or Saluda Elementary School. Performers this year include Didgeridoo Adventure Down Under, Sigmon Theatrical, Doug Berky, and April C. Turner. Teen programs for rising 6th-12th graders are on alternating Thursdays at 2 p.m. and include free snacks. Visit polklibrary.org/events for details, as some programs require registration.

There is also a summer challenge for adults. Starting June 10, adults can pick up a challenge card at the library and complete challenges throughout the summer for a chance to win a gift card from a local business.
