Thanks to the generosity of a local business, Polk County fans can once again enjoy playoff soccer at no charge.
Green River Adventures/The Gorge Zipline will be paying for tickets for any Polk County fan attending Thursday’s 1A state playoff encounter matching the Wolverines against Uwharrie Charter. The fourth-round match is set to begin at 5 p.m.
As was the case with Monday’s match against Thomas Jefferson, for which Ashworth Financial Group provided tickets, the offer is only for Polk County fans. Those supporting the Wolverines are asked to again wear blue or other school-related gear to show support for the team.
There will be a separate entrance for Wolverine fans. Visiting fans will be required to purchase general admission tickets for entrance.
Uwharrie Charter (16-5) is led by junior Jazmin Palma (29 goals, 23 assists) and junior Kendal Jarrell (25 goals). Junior goalkeeper Alexis Marion has recorded 11 shutouts and averages 11 saves per match.
