Tryon Elementary closed Tuesday due to power outage

TRYON—On Tuesday, May 14, a power outage at the Tryon Elementary campus prompted officials to close the school for the day. All other schools in the district operated on regular schedules.
As of 7 a.m. Tuesday morning, Duke Power’s outage website showed only one outage in all of Polk County.
In a message, Superintendent Aaron Greene said officials anticipated power being restored sometime on Tuesday and that parents and faculty would be updated as necessary. As of press time, it is unknown what caused the outage.
TES students were scheduled to begin end-of-grade testing on Tuesday. EOG make-up tests were slated for Friday, May 17.
