Local Farmers’ Markets to open this weekend

POLK COUNTY—The Saluda Tailgate Summer Market and the Columbus Summer Farmer’s Market are set to open this weekend, bringing fresh produce, artisanal bread, honey, and meats to the local community.
The Saluda Tailgate Summer Market’s opening day celebration is scheduled for Friday, May 3, at its new location, Saluda Elementary School, 214 E. Main Street.
The event will feature regional folk musicians Holler & Crow, along with a variety of vendors, including some new faces. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet Jessica from Polk County 4-H, who will be on hand to talk about the 4-H summer programs, along with a live animal visit. Local spring produce and tastings will be available. The market will run every Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. through October. As indicated by signs, parking is available at the tennis courts and directly across the street.
In Columbus, the Summer Farmer’s Market is also set to open on Saturday, May 4 at the Columbus Historic Courthouse Square.
Visitors can expect to find fresh local produce, honey, meats, artisan bread, and more. The market will run every Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon through October. The opening day will also coincide with the inauguaral Columbus Spring Festival, which will be held on the lawn of the courthouse with more craft vendors and kid’s activities starting at 10 a.m.
