In Polk County District Court on April 17, 2024, with Judge James Marshall presiding, 83 cases were heard. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.       

 

The following persons were convicted of a crime:

 

Darriel Cokeley was convicted of obtaining property on false pretense. Cokely was sentenced to 9 to 20 months in jail, suspended for 24 months of supervised probation. Cokeley must also complete a substance abuse assessment and 20 days of community service. 

 

Joseph Copeland was convicted of conspiring to commit felony larceny. Copeland must complete 25 days of community service. 

 

Derosa Gutierrez-Cristino was convicted of misuse of the 911 system. Gutierrez-Cristino

 Must complete one day of community service. 

 

Irena Marie Petrosyan was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia. Petrosyan was sentenced to 45 days in jail, suspended for six months of supervised probation, and must complete a substance abuse assessment. 

 

Sterling Russell was convicted of disclosure of private adult images. Russell was sentenced to six months of unsupervised probation and must complete a family violence internship. 

 

Jasmine Williamson was convicted of carrying a concealed weapon. Williamson must complete 10 days of community service. 

 

Joshua Gregory Wood was convicted of misdemeanor larceny. Wood must complete one day of community service.

 

In Polk County Superior Court on April 15, 2024, with Judge J. Grant presiding, 40 cases were heard. Some cases were continued or dismissed.       

 

The following persons were convicted of a crime:

 

Willem Barendsen was convicted of indecent liberties with a child. Barendsen was sentenced to 15 to 27 months in jail, suspended for 36 months of supervised probation, with four months to be served immediately. Barendsen must also register as a sex offender and complete a psychology treatment program. 

 

Reginald Feathersone was convicted of possession of a firearm by a felon. Featherstone was sentenced to 16 to 29 months in jail, suspended for 36 months of supervised probation. Featherstone must also complete 50 hours of community service and a substance abuse treatment program. 

 

Tyler Grayson Laughter was convicted of involuntary manslaughter. Laughter was sentenced to 15 to 27 months in jail. Laughter must also complete domestic violence and anger management classes, and was fined court costs.
