Dorothy Marie Ruff (Fisher), 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Spartanburg Medical Center after a long hard fight with an extended illness.

Dorothy was born on July 29, 1947, in Tryon to the late Edward Alexander Fisher and Sophie Marie Fisher. She was a long-time resident of Tryon and surrounding areas.

Dorothy is survived by her husband of 32 years, William Ruff; her granddaughter, Brittany Marie, whom she fully adored; her daughters, Kelly Taylor and Diana Taylor and family; and her stepson, Travis Ruff (Shea), Gracie, and Michael (Megan). Also surviving are five grandchildren and three beautiful great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was a high school graduate of Tryon High School, as well as a graduate of Lees–McRae College where she studied nursing. Dorothy practiced nursing at St. Luke’s Hospital and then later moved on to White Oak Nursing Home. She worked as a nurse for 38 years before retiring.  Dorothy loved dancing, the beach, her animals, helping others, spending time in the garden with her flowers, and most of all, she loved her family and having them all together under one roof.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at Coopers Gap Baptist Church in Mill Spring, NC officiated by Reverend Don Hollifield.
