Upon arrival, fire crews discovered a single-family home with smoke and flames showing from the attic. No residents were at the home at the time of the fire

“Within two minutes, Tryon Fire was on-scene,” said TFD Public Information Officer Steven Siler. “An initial attack was immediately commenced, along with support from the Landrum Fire Department, Columbus Fire Department, and Gowensville Fire Department.”

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, and although the structure suffered some damage, it was saved.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time, officials say, although electrical failure is suspected.

“As a community, we hate that anyone has to suffer the losses that a fire brings,” said Siler. “But as firefighters, we are thankful that no one was hurt and that the damage to the house was contained.”

There were no injuries to civilians or fire department personnel as a result of the fire.
