MILL SPRING – Helen Fowler Tolerico, 94, of Mill Spring, passed away, Saturday evening, February 10, 2024, at Autumn Care of Saluda.
Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Jesse LeRoy Fowler and Bertha Teague Fowler and wife of the late Salvador Tolerico who passed away in 2000. Upon retirement, she and Salvador moved from Jacksonville, Florida and made Mill Spring their home. Helen volunteered with Hospice of the Carolina Foothills and was a devoted member of Silver Creek Baptist Church in Mill Spring.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her stepmother, Eva Fowler.
Surviving are three sons, Ray Deal of Jacksonville, Florida, Robert Deal of Rutherfordton, North Carolina and Ronald Deal of Mill Spring, North Carolina; one daughter, Emily Higgins of Mill Spring, North Carolina; two stepsons, Salvador Tolerico, Jr. of North Carolina and Todd Tolerico (Vicki) of St. Augustine, Florida; one stepdaughter, Cathy Tarrant of Daytona Beach, Florida; two brothers, Richard Fowler (Edith) of Inman, South Carolina and Jesse Fowler (Donna) of Virginia; five grandchildren, Richard Higgins, Katina Higgins, Ray Deal, Jr., Robert Deal and Virginia Richins. Also surviving are ten great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Silver Creek Baptist Church in Mill Spring, North Carolina.
A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the church with Reverend Rob Hefner and Dr. Chris Osborn officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
