Tryon— Sylvia Elaine Wilkins, 62, went Home to Eternity on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Spartanburg Medical Center in Spartanburg, SC.

Elaine was born in Tryon, NC, and was the daughter of the late Wesley Garfield Waddell and Helen Wilkins.  Elaine worked as a cook for many years at Polk Vocational Services.  After her time there, she worked as a CNA and at the Tryon Laundromat.  Elaine was a member of New Zion CME Church in Mill Spring, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Karen (Katie Bell) Glenn, and Demetrius Wilkins.

Surviving are three children, Derrick Jerold Wilkins, Karen Katrina Wilkins and Toni Wilkins (Memucan Omega); seven grandchildren: Porsche SkKy Henry, Khia Kwadazha Sheppard, Skye Allure Wilkins, Kyce Jhakari Wilkins, Ja’Keece Wilkins-Omega, Paris Wilkins-Omega and Harmony Wilkins-Omega; one sister, Cynthia Wilkins and one brother, James Blount.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2024, at McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon, NC with Rev. Eleanor Miller officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.
