Landrum—Charles Edward Anthony Jr., 65, of Landrum, SC, passed away peacefully at his home on January 26.
Born on November 3, 1958, in Greensburg, Pa., he was the son of the late Charles Anthony Sr. and Betty McTigue Anthony.
Charlie was a lover of good music, good food, good weather, good company, and really bad jokes. He worked in industrial electronics, but his true passions were in nature. Charlie was an avid outdoorsman and lifelong herpetoculturist. He was a fine cook, a wonderful guitar player, and a creative woodworker. Charlie was consistently unapologetically himself, and those who knew him witnessed not only his outright refusal to allow tie-dye shirts to go out of style, but were also gifted by his endless supply of Monty Python quotes and a seriously colorful vocabulary.
Charlie was preceded in death by the love of his life, Sherry Lou. He is survived by his sister, Maggie Anthony and brother-in-law Paul Rymarz of Wash., brother Michael Anthony of Pa., daughters Holly Gosnell (Travis) of Landrum, SC, Kina Baddorf (Bill) of Mill Spring, NC, and Jessy Thomas (Jonathon) of Sumter, SC, as well as ten grandchildren and countless friends.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, March 17 at 2 p.m. at Southside Smokehouse in Landrum. Attendees are asked to bring photos or videos and memories to share.
