Landrum coach Lyn Smith earns 350th career win

The Landrum varsity basketball teams began region play on a high note, winning back-to-back games against conference rivals.
The Cardinals started the week with a commanding 77-60 victory over Liberty Red Devils at home on Friday, January 5. Senior Franklin Davis led the charge with 21 points, eight rebounds, and five assists, while junior Bennett Edwards contributed 19 points and nine rebounds.
The boys’ team then headed to Chesnee on Wednesday and gave their coach, Lyn Smith, his 350th career win as a high school coach. With the undefeated week, the Cardinals’ overall record improved to 12-4, 2-0.
The Landrum Lady Cardinals also had a phenomenal week, winning both their games in dominant fashion. They started Friday night with a 94-27 victory over Liberty Red Devils, with Senior Savannah Brown scoring 25 points. Sophomores Kennedy Gardner-Speech and Kylie Fortner added 15 points each to the scoreboard.
The Lady Cards then went on to defeat Chesnee Wednesday evening by a score of 68-27, with Savannah Brown passing the 1,000-point scoring mark for her career.
The games that were scheduled at Blacksburg for Friday, January 12, were postponed, and the Cardinals’ next games will be played at home against Greenville Tech Charter School on Tuesday, January 16. The girls’ game is set to start at 6:15 p.m., followed by the boys’ game at 7:45 p.m.
