Columbus— Darren Arden Cochran, 60 years old, passed away on December 29th 2023 at The Hospice House in Landrum, SC after suffering from a long illness of Alzheimer’s disease.
He was born in Las Vegas, NV and was the son of Ralph Elton Cochran and the late Sue Ann McClanahan Cochran. He was a graduate of Polk Central High School and served in the Army as Sgt in the 82nd Airborne, he was a great leader, paratrooper and a mortarman.
Surviving include his four daughters, Abby Diamond of Rutherfordton, NC, Morgan Rosenberg and Marianna Rosenberg (Jay O’Dell) of Forest City, NC. Two sisters, Timmye Cochran of Columbus, NC and Wendy Spencer (Billy Spencer) of Landrum, SC. A granddaughter Madison Lancaster. Two nephews, Correy Spencer and Logan Bates, and two nieces Michele Ratliff and Casey Spencer.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., January 27, 2024, in the McFarland Funeral Chapel in Tryon with Reverend Hambone Camp officiating.
Military honors will be conducted by the Polk County Veterans Memorial Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
