Madelyn Iris Dedmondt Meyer, 84, of Brevard went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at the Carolina Caring House in Newton, NC.

Born April 16, 1939, in Tryon, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Robert Walter Dedmondt and Iris Sherrill Buckner Dedmondt.

Madelyn graduated from Tryon High School in 1957 and earned a RN degree from Presbyterian Hospital, School of Nursing in 1960.  Her working career as a registered nurse included various positions until her retirement. She was most proud of her accomplishments overseeing the Geriatrics department at CMC Charlotte.

In retirement she enjoyed many hobbies and interests. Madelyn loved to knit and she created many beautiful stained glass art projects. She dearly loved family and the mountains. She is survived by her son, Robert Jordan and wife, Tanya, of Claremont, N.C.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, James Harvey Moore Meyer.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 30, 2023 in Polk Memorial Gardens in Columbus.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date in the spring for family and friends.
