Parade set for Thursday, Dec. 7
LANDRUM—The City of Landrum is kicking off the holiday season with its annual Christmas parade and holiday movie celebrations beginning next week.
The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony was set to take place at the Market Square beside the Landrum Farmers Market Pavilion December 2, but was canceled due to the prediction of inclement weather. As of this time, there are no plans to reschedule the event.
“It’s truly the most wonderful time of the year! We are excited to share the magic of the holiday season with our community,” said Landrum Marketing Director Tricia Taber.
On Thursday, December 7 at 6 p.m., downtown will host the Light Up Landrum Christmas Parade. The parade will begin at the Landrum Depot and head down North Trade Ave., turning left onto East Rutherford St. through downtown and will end at Landrum Middle School. After the parade, shops and restaurants will stay open later to accommodate visitors.
In addition, Landrum will hold its Holiday Movie at the Market event on Saturday, December 16, at 7 p.m. at the Landrum Farmers Market Pavilion. The Pavilion will be showing the 2002 Jim Carrey film, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Attendees are encouraged to wear their Christmas pajamas and bring folding chairs and blankets. Popcorn and hot cocoa will be served at the community event. Children must be accompanied by parents/guardians.
