The event will be a “collaborative partnership of volunteer local leaders that aims to promote the heritage and creative atmosphere of Columbus,” according to discovercolumbusnc.com.

The parade will begin at Park St. beside Bubbles Car Wash and will proceed through town, ending on Jim Christopher St. by Rosenberg’s Bone and Joint. It will immediately be followed by ‘Home Town Christmas,’ an event at Stearns Park that will feature treats, festivities and activities for the community.

“We have a little bit of a variety of everything from Mercy Urgent Care, the Polk County High School marching band, Midway Baptist Church and the Polk County Commissioners,” Finance and Fire Safety Captain Michelle Wessolleck said when asked who has signed up to participate in the parade so far.

The organizers are requesting businesses, organizations, churches and others who have a desire to be involved to join them on the lawn at Stearns Park after the parade.

Parties interested in participating in the parade can reserve their spot by contacting Trejo at daisy@columbusnc.com or by calling 828-894-8236, extension 1002. More information can also be found by contacting the Town of Columbus Fire Department at 828-894-3667.
