COLUMBUS—A new restaurant, The Lunch Box Grill, opened earlier this week inside the VGo Texaco at 401 W. Mills Street in Columbus, holding its grand opening on Monday, November 6.
The Lunch Box serves breakfast and lunch and is operated by the same couple who run Manzolina’s Eatery at Harmon Field in Tryon. While Manzolina’s was named after their three children, the inspiration for the name of the new restaurant came from their middle daughter, who thought the new spot looked a bit like a lunch box.
Demetrios and Lisa, the owners, said, “We have lived in the area for several years now and appreciate all the support for our Harmon Field location. And we’re excited to open our second location here in Columbus.”
The menus of both restaurants offer similar breakfast staples, such as sandwiches, omelets and breakfast burritos, with the Lunch Box serving breakfast until 2 p.m. The lunch side of the menu features salads, hot and cold sandwiches, burgers, quesadillas and even fried shrimp among its many choices. It also offers plenty of options for kids, including chicken tenders.
The Texaco’s restaurant area has been refurbished and repainted, and they have brought in all new kitchen equipment.
The Lunch Box offers daily specials, which can be found on their Facebook page, and they will be adding Doordash in the near future. Call-in orders are available, as well as catering, and there are plenty of tables available for dine-in customers.
“We’ve got great-tasting fresh food at excellent prices, hand-patted burgers, Sabrett hot dogs, and a full menu of great choices from sandwiches to salads,” said Demetrios. “And we’re looking forward to serving the people of Columbus like we have our customers in Tryon over the last year.”
The Lunch Box is open six days a week, Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Call-in orders are available at (828) 567-8036.
