Opening Thursday, November 9, is Tryon Little Theater’s “The Mousetrap” – set in Monkswell Manor, a guest house somewhere in rural England. There’s a blizzard roaring outside as the young new owners welcome their first guests: a crotchety grand dame, a retired Major, a mysterious quiet lady, a rambunctious artiste-type fellow, a dramatic Italian, and a surprise visit from a policeman. We quickly learn that everyone there is hiding something…and then there’s a murder!
Directed by Jim Powell, the play was written by the Queen of Crime – Dame Agatha Christie – famous for her detective novels, short story collections, and the famous sleuths Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. This murder mystery play is downright funny at times, but there’s an underlying dark theme that threads through the story. Everybody has a secret. Everybody is a suspect. If you think you know who the killer is, think again – because Christie throws in a new twist at every turn!
Performances run for two weekends at TLT’s Workshop Theater from November 9 through November 12 and November 16 through November 19. Tickets are available online at tltinfo.org, or by calling 828-859-2466. Ticket prices are $20 and $12.
