New station located at the Tryon Depot
TRYON—An electric vehicle charging station located at the Tryon Depot parking lot is now available for public use. The station features a single pedestal with two chargers and two parking spaces, and was installed over the summer as part of a grant awarded to the town.
Mayor Alan Peoples confirmed Sunday that the station is available for owners of electric vehicles to utilize when traveling through or visiting Tryon. He says that there were some issues with connectivity at first, but those issues have been resolved.
“With these times, electric vehicles are becoming more and more common,” Peoples says. “We look forward to giving the opportunity to electric vehicle drivers to charge up and enjoy the town of Tryon.”
When asked if there are any plans for more charging stations to be installed in Tryon, Peoples said that it really depends on if more grants toward electric vehicle charging station projects are awarded.
Town Planner Tim Daniels said that signage for the new station will be going up shortly, and that EV drivers are able to find the location on the maps in their vehicles.
The new electric vehicle charging station is located at 22 Depot St. in Tryon.
