COLUMBUS—Edward Joseph Goettert, 77, of Columbus NC passed away on September 19, 2023. He was the son of the late Peter Nicholas and Marie Alvina Rodde Goettert.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon Lare Goettert; a son Peter Goettert of Spokane, WA; two daughters Elizabeth Goettert of Austin, TX and Rachel Goettert of Columbus, NC; a sister Rosemarie Mikrut of Westchester, IL; and four grandchildren Lowe Goettert, Sarah Goettert, Alexander Goettert and Nola Staton.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 3 -5 p.m. at Petty Funeral Home. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2023 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church conducted by Father Jason Christian.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105;  Arbor Day Foundation, 211 N 12th Street Lincoln, NE 68508. or to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary 5001 Angel Canyon Rd, Kanab, UT 84741.
