In Polk County District Court on August 9, 2023, with Judge Abe Hudson presiding, 148 cases were heard. Some cases were continued, dismissed or sent to superior court.
The following persons were convicted of a crime:
Ariel Ashwell was convicted of possession of an open container of alcohol in a passenger area. Ashwell was fined $25 plus court costs.
Cristopher Brown was convicted of resisting a public officer. Brown was sentenced to 1 day in jail, with one day credit time served.
Juwan Brown was convicted of possession of marijuana paraphernalia. Brown was fined $30 plus court costs.
Ciera Dawn Clarke was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia. Clarke was sentenced to one day in jail, with one day credit time served.
O’Bryant Davidson was convicted of possession of marijuana paraphernalia Davidson was fined court costs.
Frances Lorraine Detar was convicted of reckless driving to endanger. Detar was fined $50 plus court costs.
Tara Lynn Francis was convicted of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Francis was sentenced to 45 days in jail, with 45 days credit time served.
Roger Eugene Gibson was convicted of felony possession of a Schedule 1 controlled substance. Gibson was sentenced to 6-17 months in jail, suspended for 18 months of supervised probation. Gibson must also complete a substance abuse assessment and perform 24 hours of community service.
Patrick Dean Goodrich was convicted of simple possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance. Goodrich was sentenced to one day in jail, with one day credit time served.
Dennis Conway Harmon was convicted of driving while impaired. Harmon was sentenced to 30 days in jail, suspended for 12 months of unsupervised probation. Harmon was fined $100 plus court costs and must perform 24 hours of community service.
Barry Kermit Keys was convicted of failure to stop at a stop sign or flashing red light. Keys was fined $25 plus court costs.
Shannon Lea Lawter was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting a public officer. Lawter was sentenced to one day in jail with one day credit time served. Lawter also received 6 months of unsupervised probation, 24 hours of community service and must complete a substance abuse assessment.
Luis Isaac Morales was convicted of failure to stop at a stop sign or flashing red light. Morals was fined $25 plus court costs.
Kayla Rose Moran was convicted of felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance. Moran was sentenced to 6-17 months in jail, suspended for 12 months of supervised probation. Moran must also complete a substance abuse assessment, pay lab fees and perform 24 hours of community service.
Andre Robert Ramsey was convicted of driving while impaired. Ramsey was sentenced to 60 days in jail, suspended for 12 months of unsupervised probation, with one day credit time served. Ramsey must pay court costs and lab fees, and must complete 24 hours of community service.
Carey Lynn Shehan was convicted of driving while impaired. Shehan was sentenced to 12 months in jail, suspended for 24 months of supervised probation. Shehan must also complete a substance abuse assessment and must pay court costs and lab fees.
John Leonard Smather was convicted of resisting a public officer. Smather was sentenced to 17 days in jail, with 17 days credit time served.
Monica Smith was convicted of careless and reckless driving. Smith was fined $50 plus court costs.

The following persons were convicted of a crime:
Matthew Joseph Bell was convicted of resisting a public officer. Bell was sentenced to two days in jail, with two days credit time served.
Jeremie Delaney was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia. Delaney was sentenced to 120 days in jail.
Erin Elizabeth Esau was convicted of misdemeanor larceny. Esau was sentenced to one day in jail, with one day credit time served.
Glenda Renee Lanford was convicted of driving while impaired. Lanford was sentenced to 60 days in jail, suspended for 24 months of unsupervised probation. Lanford must also surrender her license and was fined $100 plus court costs.
James Rickman was convicted of misdemeanor larceny. Rickman was sentenced to 60 days in jail, suspended for 12 months of supervised probation. Rickman was also fined court costs, and must pay $800 in restitution.
Cassie Russell was convicted of misdemeanor larceny. Russell was fined court costs.
Phillip Stepp was convicted of driving while impaired. Stepp was sentenced to 60 days in jail, suspended for 24 months of unsupervised probation. Stepp was also fined $100 plus community service fees, and must perform 24 hours of community service.
Ty Dillan Townsend was convicted of abandonment of an animal. Townsend was fined $100 plus court costs.
Joshua Gregory Wood was convicted of misdemeanor larceny. Wood was sentenced to one day in jail, with one day credit time served. Wood was also fined court costs and jail fees.
