Tryon Little Theater’s season opener — “Honkey Tonk Angels” — runs September 28 through October 1 on the big stage at the Tryon Fine Arts Center in downtown Tryon. Directed by Dan Harvey, with musical direction by Pam McNeil, the show launches the 75th Anniversary Season for TLT.
The musical takes its title from a 1993 album of the same name by Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn and Tammy Wynette. Written by Ted Swindley, the narrative follows three gutsy gals from different backgrounds who want to take charge of their lives and follow their honky tonk dreams all the way to Nashville. Combining 30 classic country tunes (including Stand By Your Man, 9 to 5, Harper Valley PTA and more), this show promises a hilarious, foot-stomping good time.
Playing the determined and spirited characters of Angela, Darlene and Sue Ellen, are Lori Lee, Maggie Carter and Leslie Hendon —three women with melodious, harmonious, and breathtaking voices, who will dazzle you with their talent.
Tickets are $25 for adults and $12 for those under 18 and can be purchased online at tltinfo.org, or by calling (828) 859-2466.
