POLK COUNTY—Dashcam footage has been shared by Homestretch Logistical Trucking detailing the events of a dangerous accident that shut down I-26 for hours on August 1.

The incident, which occurred near mile marker 63, shows a white Dodge Ram pickup truck merge left to avoid a slow-moving tractor-trailer, with the driver seemingly oblivious that a second tractor-trailer is already occupying the lane. 

The footage shows the white pickup colliding with the two tractor-trailers, sending the tractor-trailer with the dash camera careening into a portable restroom located alongside the interstate. 

A representative of the trucking company stated that it shared the footage to demonstrate the importance of “all drivers sharing the road and allowing all motorists the space they need for safe operation of their vehicles.”

Local officials reported that there were no significant injuries due to the accident. The driver of the Dodge Ram was deemed at fault and charged with careless and reckless driving.
