MILL SPRING – Darlene Searcy, 73, of Mill Spring, passed away Friday morning, June 30, 2023.
Born in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of Frances McSwain and the late James Harold Johnson. Darlene loved working and caring for others at St. Luke’s Hospital for 25 years.
During her life, she was a devoted mother and enjoyed her time with family and friends at the lake or any gathering. She enjoyed baking, long drives and was a markswoman with precise aim. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with.
Surviving is her husband of 22 years, Billy Searcy; one daughter, Brandi Thompson of Landrum; four sons, Donald Rhymer of Campobello, Kenneth Thompson (Stephanie) of Campobello; Cory Thompson (Erin) of Tryon and Wayne Lockhart (Amber) of Campobello; one step-son, Robbie Searcy (Emily) of Mill spring; Three sisters, Helen Horton of Landrum, Ellen Greene (Randy) of Tryon and Teresa Doll (Mike) of Inman. Also surviving are five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was proceeded in death by her father, James Harold Johnson and her sister Martha Aileen Cooper.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.
A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel with Dr. Charles Drawdy officiating.
