Columbus— Horace Arthur Scoggins, 85, of Columbus passed away on June 21, 2023.  He was son of the late Horace and Viola Pack Scoggins and the husband of the late Corine Horton Scoggins who he was married to for 63 years.

Arthur was a member of Green Creek First Baptist Church and was retired from Inman Mills after working there for 35 years. After retirement he enjoyed bush hogging and cutting grass on his Ford tractor. Arthur enjoyed yearly trips to Pigeon Forge with his wife Corine and Christmas trips with his kids and grandchildren. He also loved watching NASCAR races and Westerns.

Survivors include one son Stanley Scoggins and wife Bridget ; one daughter Sheila Ford  and husband Kerry; one sister Mary Belue; three grandchildren Amber Lee Stott, Austin T. Ford and wife Paige and Nathan Horace Scoggins; two great grandchildren Caden Lee Howard and Danny Ray “Dray” Ford. He was predeceased by one brother Claude Scoggins and one sister Mallie Yelton.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 3:00pm Friday , June 23, 2023 at Green Creek First Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 3:00pm at the church conducted by the Rev. Carroll Page.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
