In March it was announced that a land donation helped to clear a major hurdle in the construction of a YMCA in Polk County.
Recently, a sign was erected at the site of the upcoming construction project.
The county recently signed a contract with Convergent Nonprofit Solutions to help guide the capital fundraising process and the county anticipates breaking ground in 2025.
There has been some confusion regarding this property as an apartment complex is currently being built on the land behind the YMCA’s future site. The county has allowed that project to cross the property line to add a waterline, which has given the impression that construction has begun on the YMCA, which isn’t the case.
The land was given to the county for the YMCA project by John Montgomery and Clary Hood. The Polk County Board of Commissioners accepted the donation of the six-acre plot of land, which is located at the intersection of Hwy. 74, Hwy. 108 and Fox Mountain Rd., in March.
