Special election winner grateful for support
LANDRUM–Judy Henderson was sworn into her position on the Landrum City Council at its meeting held on Tuesday, June 14.
The new councilwoman defeated Mike Dill in a special election held on May 23, receiving 60% of the vote. Henderson, a resident of Landrum for six years, replaces former Councilman Daniel Prince, who resigned in March.
“I’ll try not to cry, but I just want to thank everyone for your support the last couple of months. It was just so amazing to meet so many wonderful people in Landrum, and I’m just so thankful for that,” Henderson said . “I want to represent you to the best of my ability”
In part to honor recent graduates, the Bible Henderson used to be sworn in was held by her cousin Mary Ruth, who graduated from Landrum High School.
Henderson also asked her brother-in-law, Jay Butler, to stand and help represent her in place of her late husband.
