LANDRUM–Judy Henderson defeated Mike Dill in a special election held Tuesday to fill the open seat on the Landrum City Council. Early voting in the special election began on May 15.

According to unofficial results, Henderson received 60% of the vote, with 300 ballots cast.

Former Councilman Daniel Prince resigned in March after moving out of city limits. South Carolina required a special election be held to fill his seat on the council.

“Congratulations to our newly-elected council member Judy Henderson,” the City of Landrum said in a social media post. “Here’s to working together and becoming stronger together.” 

Henderson has been a Landrum resident for 6 years. 

“I’m very grateful for all the support I got during those two months of campaigning. I promise to listen to the people of Landrum and serve them well,” Henderson says. “I’ve been blessed by meeting so many amazing Landrum citizens.”

Results will be certified at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Spartanburg County Board of Elections office.

Henderson will be sworn in at the next Landrum City Council scheduled on Tuesday, June 13.
