New fast food restaurant expected to open mid-September

 

LANDRUM–Construction has begun on the Kentucky Fried Chicken fast food restaurant in Landrum.

The land has been graded and cinder block footing has been installed.

The City of Landrum received the proposal for the restaurant in February of last year, and confirmed that the proposal was approved in July. “It’s a real project,” said Landrum City Administrator Rich Caplan.

Located on Hwy. 14 East between Campbell Ave. and Fairwinds Dr., directly in front of the Landrum Hardware store, the KFC is being constructed by Fulenwider Enterprises of Morganton, N.C., who also owns and operates the Taco Bell on Mills St. in Columbus.

“We are expecting to open in mid-September,” said Adam McCurray of Fulenwider Enterprises. “They are making good progress on the construction.”
