The Jim Carson Studio and Gallery in Saluda will celebrate its third anniversary on Friday, June 2, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Studio/Gallery located at 20-2 Main St.. The gallery is next to the Visitors Center and City Hall. Liquid refreshments will be served.
Jim Carson is known for his creative color balance and bold and spontaneous brushwork. His favorite subject matter is catching and carrying the light and shadow patterns through a painting, whether in an outdoor landscape, cityscape, interior or still life.
Carson has been recognized at a number of national events and is a Signature Member of Oil Painters of America, a Signature Member of The American Impressionist Society, a member of Plein Air Painters of the Southeast, a group of distinguished southern artists, and a member of the venerable Salmagundi Club in New York City.
Before turning to painting full-time, Jim was the managing partner in the law firm of Chambless, Higdon and Carson, in Macon, Ga., where he practiced law for 31 years.
Although always interested in drawing, even at an early age, Jim began taking painting lessons in 1989, and his art journey culminated in 2003 when he retired from law practice and moved to Saluda, N.C. to fully pursue his passion to paint.
The public is invited to this anniversary celebration on June 1. For more information, visit www.jimcarson.net.
