POLK COUNTY–Polk County Parks and Recreation Department is holding an exciting event for adults who love to paint.
The event will take place at the Polk County Recreation Complex in Columbus at 235 Wolverine Trail on May 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. Becky Rickenbaker of Tryon, an award-winning professional painter with experience in both advertising and fine art, will lead the painting session.
Participants will have the opportunity to unwind in nature while creating their masterpieces that they will then be able to take home with them. The event costs $40 per person, and all materials will be provided on the day of the event. To register, email trails@polknc.org.
If you’d like to help maintain walking trails in our area, Polk County Parks and Recreation also has a pair of trail workdays this month.
The workdays make for wonderful volunteer opportunities and a great opportunity to experience some of the excellent hiking trails Polk County has to offer
The first Polk Trail Workday will occur on Friday, May 5, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Tom Raymond Fitness Trail in Columbus.
Polk Trail Workdays are also scheduled for May 12 at the Recreation Complex in Mill Spring, May 19 at Alexander’s Ford, and May 26 at Isothermal Community College, weather permitting
Volunteers are encouraged to bring water, a snack and gloves. For more information about the trail workdays or the adult painting event, please contact the Polk County Parks and Recreation Department at recreation@polknc.org.
