Event aims to raise awareness for the Landrum Community Dog Park
LANDRUM-On Sunday, May 7, the Landrum Community Dog Park will host ‘Bark in the Park,’ an event promoting community awareness and support for the dog park.
The dog park, founded in 2016 by Stone Soup Market and Cafe owner Suzanne Strickland, is facing closure due to a formal complaint filed by the owner of a neighboring property. ‘Bark in the Park’ is being organized by fans and regulars of the park who want to support Strickland, and a petition to keep the park open will be available to sign at the event.
“The festive day is intended to let the community know how much the dogs and owners appreciate having a place to come so the dogs can play and the owners visit,” said Jim Steckel, a frequent attendee of the park.
Delicias Verito food truck will offer tacos and burritos, and the event will feature live music and a veterinarian on hand for questions and advice. Foothills Humane Society will also have dogs available for adoption on-site.
‘Bark in the Park’ will be held at the Landrum Community Dog Park just behind Stone Soup, located at 1522 E Rutherford St. in Landrum, from 12 to 4 p.m.
