Sunny View– Dorothy Faye Wilson, 72, of Sunny View, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023, at her home.
Born in Bat Cave, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Wilson and Addie Lee Lawter Wilson. Growing up, she and her family were best known for the doll furniture and full-size furniture they made through the years. She was a graduate of Polk Central High School and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from Western Carolina University. For many years, she worked at Stonecutter Mills until its closure. She went back to school and earned her C.N.A. and began working at Tryon Estates and worked until her death. She was a member of Coopers Gap Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charlie Wilson.
Surviving is one sister, Kathleen Collins (Bill) of Sylva; two nieces, Hannah Collins of Asheville and Olivia Collins of Sylva; one nephew, Christopher Collins of Sylva; her best friend, Doris Trantham. Also surviving are many cousins.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 10, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Coopers Gap Baptist Church.
A funeral service will follow Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Reverend Donald Hollifield officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
