Landrum woman dies after cycling crash in Green Creek

GREEN CREEK–A Landrum woman has died after a crash occurred while she was cycling in Green Creek on Thursday morning.
Carrie Armstrong, 42 of Landrum, was struck by a vehicle while she was riding a bicycle along Chesnee Road, near Radar Road. Troopers with the North Carolina Highway Patrol were called to the scene around 9:55 a.m.
According to the NCHP, two cyclists were heading west side-by-side on Chesnee Road, when a 1995 Chevy Tahoe also headed west hit Armstrong, who was the cyclist closest to the center of the road.
Armstrong later passed away at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center due to her injuries.
Armstrong’s death is under investigation by the North Carolina Highway Patrol, as well as the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office.
