The Carolina Foothills Chamber of Commerce will host a seminar on Thursday, January 19, focusing on cybersecurity fundamentals for businesses of all sizes.
The seminar will take place at their offices located at 2753 Lynn Road, Suite A, Tryon, NC, from 8 to 9:30 a.m., and will feature Ed Carroll and Joe Jakubielski from the Carolina Cyber Center of Montreat College.
The Chamber holds quarterly breakfast meetings nicknamed “bites” covering various subjects, often suggested by the members. With cyber attacks being on the rise, one subject that has become more of a concern to local businesses is cybersecurity. This talk will give local companies concrete ways to become more cyber-secure, including steps they can implement with little or no experience.
“Our ‘Bite’ meetings are devoted to topics the members suggest, and cybersecurity was one of the most often submitted topics,” says the Chamber of Commerce’s Sarah Leatham. “The meetings are free to attend for all businesses, not just members. They are also held in the morning to allow more business owners to attend.”
Attendees will be able to enjoy a breakfast and networking from 8 to 8:30 a.m., followed by the cybersecurity seminar, where local businesses can receive free security vulnerability reports and awareness training. There will also be a raffle prize, sponsored by Voisin Enterprises.
“We’re a different kind of chamber in that we incorporate four towns in two counties,” Leatham adds. “Our goal is to bring together resources that will help every business, whether small, medium, or large. We want to help give them access to information they might not be able to get on their own.”
