M.M. Cochran to participate in book signings mid-November
TRYON– On Saturday, November 19, a launch party for M.M. Cochran’s debut novel, Between the Ocean and the Stars, is set to take place at the Tryon Depot located at 22 Depot Street in Tryon.
Cochran, a reporter and columnist for the Tryon Daily Bulletin, is an award-winning fiction writer from Greenville with an educational background in English and creative writing. She will be participating in book signings for guests and will be discussing her brand new novel, released earlier this month.
Between the Ocean and the Stars can be described as a moody, romantic mystery filled with excitement and dark emotions. It can be compared to the hit streaming series Outer Banks and books turned film, the After series.
Cochran’s coming of age novel revolves around a newcomer of Ophelia Island, Sam Carter, who encounters an alluring diner girl, Georgia Gabehart, and her dangerous boyfriend. After a hurricane strikes the island, Sam finds himself in the middle of a police investigation with Georgia nowhere to be found. Filled with love, tragedy, and mystery, the book is sure to leave all of its readers satisfied.
“Every reader loves a little mystery and romance, and this novel has both,” said Cochran when asked what the readers will enjoy about Between the Ocean and the Stars. “This book was written for young adults, but there’s no age limit on a book where you can connect to a character’s experience.”
As Cochran is getting prepared for the launch party next month, she recalls her journey to becoming a published author, saying “I’ve been a writer since I was about 12. When I was offered a contract by my publisher at age 22, I was over the moon. A year later, here I am living the author life I dreamed of when I was a teenager. I have my faithful readers and amazing publisher to thank.”
Between the Ocean and the Stars is published by IngramElliot Publishing, an award-winning independent publisher with a mission to bring great stories to light in print and on-screen.
Cochran expressed excitement to be able to share her debut novel with the community that she has grown to love.
“Those in the local community have been my friends since I began working with the Bulletin years ago, and their support has pushed me very far in my writing,” says Cochran. “That’s why this book signing and launch party is open to the public—I want to meet and spend time with my readers and friends here in Tryon.”
Between the Ocean and the Stars is available in print and e-book at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Indiebound, and anywhere books are sold.
