TRYON – PBS NC was back in Tryon shooting a feature segment on the GreenLife Inn at Mimosa for its “North Carolina Weekend” show.
On Saturday morning, local producer/writer Clay Johnson and photographer/editor Erik
Olsen interviewed innkeepers Kevin and Mary Parker and a couple of their guests while also filming footage of the interior and exterior of the inn. The PBS crew then filmed the Tryon Coffeehouse, also owned by the Parkers, taking shots of the interior along with the Art with a Heart gallery in the back sitting room.
In 2015, the Parkers purchased the historic inn built in 1903, and since they’ve taken
care of guests visiting the area to attend shows at the Tryon International Equestrian
Center, performances at the Tryon Fine Arts Center, and other activities. The inn itself
hosts weddings, reunions, and other events. The Inn will also provide lodging for the
upcoming Tryon International Film Festival on Oct. 7-9.
Johnson and Olsen are freelance contractors who do work for PBS NC and other clients. “North Carolina Weekend” is a weekly magazine show about places to visit and things to do across the state. The segment on the GreenLife Inn is scheduled to premiere Thursday, Nov. 24, at 9 p.m. on PBS NC. That episode repeats Friday at 5 p.m.; Saturday at 10 a.m.; and the following Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. You can also stream the show on YouTube, Facebook, and pbsnc.org.
Another segment, produced and written by Johnson on Parker Binns Vineyard of Mill
Spring, NC premiers on NC Weekend this Thursday night at 9 p.m.
