CAMPOBELLO – Barbara Jean Richards Horne, 78, of Campobello, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, September 13, 2022 at Regional Hospice Home in Spartanburg following a brief illness.

Born in Tryon, she was the daughter of the late Charles Franklin Richards and Florence Isabell Waters Richards and widow of Burdette Horne who passed away in 2003. Growing up in Tryon, Barbara and Burdette married in June of 1973 and made Campobello their home. Barbara worked for over 30 years doing housekeeping at McFarland Funeral Chapel and area homes. When not working, her passion was her family. She would make daily phone calls to her family making sure everyone was okay. Barbara was a faithful member of Inman First Freewill Baptist Church and attended the Disciples Sunday School Class.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah West.

Surviving are two sons, Farrell Condrey (Linda) of Rutherfordton and Terry Horne of Campobello; one daughter, Crissy Hackett (Shawn) of Spartanburg; one brother, Charles Franklin Richards, Jr. (Betty) of Inman; three grandchildren, Corey Condrey (Jessica), Madysen Horne and Garrison Horne; three great-grandchildren, Leelin Condrey, Skylar Condrey and Layla Schults. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, September 15, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2022 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel with Reverend Sean Fortner and Reverend Tim Hackett officiating.

Burial will follow in Mill Creek Church Cemetery.
